I have had a long term commitment to addressing the issue of domestic violence – ever since I was part of a team in the early 1980s who wrote the first report on domestic violence for the Victorian State Government.

I believe very strongly that all women should have the opportunity to reach their potential – and it is hard to imagine how a woman can do this when at home they face violence, derision and abuse, rather than love, support and encouragement.

Along with other committed people, I founded Australia’s CEO Challenge to recognise that workplaces and business sector have an important role to play in both supporting women who are impacted by violence, and also to foster and encourage the community change we need to ensure we live in a world where violence against women and children are not acceptable.

I am proud to be associated with this organisation and the work now happening across workplaces in all sectors. We can, and will, make a difference.
